It Takes a Village Parent Support Group is a grassroots family organization for parents of children with special needs. Established last year by four local mothers, Krissy Leasure, Tricia Meyer, Kris Sayers and Kathy Nelson, It Takes a Village PSG provides emotional support, connections with other parents and peer support.

Our goal is to empower parents through education, advocacy and networking. We also explore self-help methods for stress reduction, treatment options, balancing our child’s needs and bringing together families in similar situations.

Meetings are held at New Hope Presbyterian Church in Coal City twice a month.

Parents of children with special needs are encouraged to attend, including children with medical, emotional, physical, cognitive, social, neurological, learning disabilities and mental health challenges. Parents from all surrounding communities are invited to attend meetings. Childcare will be provided.
